Designing Your Startup: Lunch and Learn @ Macomb OU Inc

Join Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3), Macomb OU INCubator, and the MI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for a special presentation highlighting the importance of design at every stage of your startup, from ideation to commercialization and beyond. You will leave this presentation understanding the value of design in attracting more investment capital, getting to market faster, increasing customer satisfaction, and simply building better products. Lunch will be provided.
Speakers and panelists include:
John Eaton is a certified New Product Development Professional. In his 20+ year career, he’s seen first hand the power of design and storytelling to guide product and service strategy, influence decision-making and foster innovation for companies at any stage. John currently supports startup founders at Macomb OU INCubator.
Eric Strebel, owner, lead designer, and product visualization expert at Botzen Design, and has been designing products for 25+ years. His designs include: sunglasses for Bauch & Lomb and Traps eyewear, entry level luxury vehicles for Ford, a wireless charging PowerMat for Homedics, magnetic toys for Guidecraft, and multiple personal care products. Eric also teaches Industrial Design at Wayne State University and College for Creative Studies.
Charles Hilliard is Chief Design Officer & Co-Founder at Sift, an early stage startup helping companies improve culture, employee retention and visibility. Over 10 years, Charles has worked for USA Today, Pentagon, USPS, and high-ed tech and design agencies on product design, branding, UI, UX, and interaction design. He focuses on building simple entreprise applications to help companies improve workforce productivity and efficiency.
Kristen Keenan, Founder and Design Director of Trichromatic Studio, has more than twelve years experience in color, material and finish design, and has excelled in the automotive, consumer electronics and footwear design industries. Kristen served on the Nike Trend Council and holds a Bronze International Design Excellence Award for her work on the Kobe 9 Elite shoe in the area of sports, leisure and recreation.
