Attention tech-based startups: Apply to Creative Co. Services Fund by July 31 for chance to win up to $25k in design services

The Creative Co. Services Fund (CCSF) supports early and second stage tech-based startups* located in the state of Michigan.
We believe that creative and design assets are critical to any type of business and should properly reflect the business’ identity and values. CCSF aims to connect local entrepreneurs with local design talent.
DOES YOUR STARTUP NEED PROFESSIONAL GRADE CREATIVE ASSETS?
CCSF provides matching-funding awards up to $25,000 to early and second stage tech-based startups located in the state of Michigan. These award amounts can ONLY be used towards receiving professional design services from Creative Co. members, all of which are Metro Detroit based designers.
HOW IT WORKS
This match-funding award requires the Awardee to pay 30% of the total award amount. (For example if you are selected for a $25,000 award, your company contributes $7,500 and the remaining amount is paid by CCSF.)
Investment awards can only be used towards purchasing services from Creative Co. members.
Funds can be use towards:
- Graphic design + illustration
- Advertising + branding +strategy
- Media production + photography + videography
- UI/UX interactive design + development
- Architecture + interior design
- Industrial + product design
Most projects take between 4 – 6 months from start to finish. A dedicated individual to manage the process is highly encouraged.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Any company that is considered an early or second stage tech-based startup (based on the MEDC’s definition located below) and is currently based in Michigan and receiving support from a Michigan Smartzone.
The MEDC defines a tech-based startup as:
A business in which research and development brings forth an innovative product or process, typically involving intellectual property, that provides a strong competitive advantage in national or international markets and serves as a foundation for a highly scalable business (MEDC, 2014).
The online application will require:
- Letter of support from a staff member at a SmartZone organization
- Financial documents (forecast and summary)
- Presentation of business and executive team
- Explanation of need for Creative Asset(s) development and potential economic impact

CCSF is a partner program between the Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3), Creative Co. and Detroit Innovate. Financial support of the fund is provided from by New Economy Initiative of Southeast Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
About CCSF: CCSF is a fund established to provide support for early and second stage tech-based startup businesses currently receiving business acceleration services and/or funding from a qualifying Michigan SmartZone.
*Eligible companies must be doing business in the state of Michigan, and must have established a formal legal entity prior to apply. The fund is only available to companies that demonstrate intent to commercialize a technology or product. Companies that are exclusively service-oriented are not eligible to apply for funding through this program.
