Detroit’s small businesses and entrepreneurs are getting ready for the holiday shopping season!  

Several business support organizations will host pop-up market events in various neighborhoods during the month of November. There are also events taking place in December, such as Noel Night, that will bring small businesses and entrepreneurs together. Many upcoming events are still seeking vendors.

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Events 

Black Leaders Detroit is giving away gift cards to select stores for its Black Friday Giveaway on November 29. Gift cards will be available at 19372 Livernois in Detroit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. BLD members will receive an additional gift at the event.

The Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, Southwest Detroit Business Association, Fantazma Market & Café, and the Corktown Business Association are partnering for a Small Business Saturday event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event on November 30 is located at 1211 Trumbull Street in Detroit.

Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation and the New Economy Initiative are hosting Holidays on Grand River on November 30 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event is currently seeking vendors.

The Congregation will host a Small Business Saturday market in its Fellowship Hall on November 30 from noon to 5 p.m. Browse through a variety of handmade crafts, artisanal goods, delicious treats, and more, while listening to live music. Customers will also get double the reward points on purchases made in the cafe throughout the market.

Detroit Sip is hosting Shop the Smalls Vendor Marketplace on November 30. The event will take place at 7420 W. McNichols in Detroit from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

 


On November 30, visit the Holiday Shop & Stroll in the North End and Milwaukee Junction business district. Starting at 11 a.m., this self-guided event experience begins at the Detroit People’s Food Co-op to Kiesling from 5 p.m. until close.  

Holiday Season Events 

The annual Downtown Detroit Markets are back at Cadillac Square this winter, featuring several small business pop-ups. The Downtown Detroit Markets bring a wide variety of family-friendly activities and promotions for locals and visitors. Make a stop at Cadillac Lodge on your way out!

Eastern Market will host its Holiday Market featuring over 500 local vendors and businesses! A Thanksgiving Food Shopping Market will take place on November 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Then, holiday markets will continue on December 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. These markets will take place in addition to Eastern Market’s year-round Saturday Market.

Hunt Street Station is hosting its 4th Annual McDougall-Hunt Christkindl Market and they are seeking vendors. Reach out to sina@huntstreetstation.com to reserve limited space indoors or outdoors. The market will take place from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 at 2200 Hunt Street in Detroit. 

 


The 50th Annual Noel Night, hosted by Midtown Detroit, Inc., will take place on December 7. The daytime celebration will be in the Cultural Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and nighttime activities will take place in Midtown from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

TechTown Detroit and Wayne State University are hosting WARM, the Winter Arts & Retail Market, in the Wayne State University Welcome Center on December 7 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes shopping with 12 Small Businesses and WSU arts students as well as family-friendly activities.

 


Jefferson East, Inc. will host a Shop Small Friday event on December 20. The event will take place at the JEI Neighborhood Resource Hub, located at 14300 E Jefferson in Detroit from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Attendees can expect 18 vendors, kids arts and crafts, hot chocolate, and treats.
