Lawrence Technological University received a boost with a two-year, $350,000 grant from the New Economy Initiative to support a business incubator aimed at growing small manufacturing and hardware startups.

The incubator, Centrepolis Accelerator, is tailored to assist small manufacturing and hardware companies with product development and prototyping. The grant will allow the program to extend technical support and professional resources to those businesses to accelerate growth, according to a Tuesday news release.

“We are so grateful for the NEI’s partnership with LTU and their shared commitment to help strengthen the foundation of Michigan’s manufacturing, product design and engineering heritage,” Lawrence Tech president Virinder Moudgil said in a news release. “NEI’s two-year commitment provides LTU and the Centrepolis Accelerator the ability to offer in-depth client programs and resources, especially as we move forward with the opening of the accelerator’s 6,300-square-foot facility on campus this fall.”
